Fredericksburg Is Where the Family Is

While Richmond is the official home of American Family Fitness, our AFFamily reach extends as far north as Fredericksburg, Virginia. American Family Fitness Fredericksburg first opened in 2007, opening its doors to not only the top fitness equipment and quality training in the area, but to a unique and welcoming community that becomes like family.

American Family Fitness Fredericksburg is a 75,000-square-foot facility that sits proudly atop a hill on Southpoint Parkway, visible to all who drive by on Interstate 95. As the club was being built, several staff (many of whom are still here) assisted the contractors during construction by putting the numbers on the lockers in the locker room and assisting with the placement of the phones at the Welcome Desk. Within our walls you can find endless opportunities to live a healthier lifestyle  – there’s an expansive deck of cardio equipment, various weight machines and free weights, a functional training area with turf, and racks upon racks of barbells. Beyond fitness equipment, American Family Fitness Fredericksburg offers multiple areas for specialized training, including 3 racquetball courts, a full-sized basketball court, and 4 pools (a lap pool, a fitness pool for Aquatics class participants, a Kids Pool, and Hot Tub).

There is also plenty of space to find community in a group training environment, with 3 Group Fitness studios: Group X, the largest Group Fitness studio in the area which is home to our premiere freestyle and MOSSA programming; Cycling, where you can experience Coach By Color, an interactive indoor cycling program that builds your power on the bike; and Mind Body, where you can balance your training with knowledgeable Yoga instructors. You can also get the group experience with our Fusion Team Training, a unique team training experience led by Personal Trainers that integrates functional training with MyZone heart rate technology to customize your workout to your needs.

While fitness is our specialty, family and community are our priority. Our Kid Zone is the perfect place for kids to be kids, offering a space maze to move through, an arts and craft area to be creative, a homework area and a sport court. When the weather is nice, kids can play in our outdoor playhouse with swing. And our Kids Pool is more than a pool – it’s a “water park” that includes a baby pool, 2 water rings for kids to run through, and 2 water slides that “dump” into its own 4-foot pool.

The most unique feature at American Family Fitness Fredericksburg, though, isn’t a piece of equipment you can use or a place where you can get the best workout – it’s our staff, an essential piece of our AFFamily. With approximately 150 members, our staff is the best in the industry. Within just the management staff we have over 100 years combined of experience in the fitness industry. Our Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors all have extensive education and training in their field, so whether you take a Yoga class or work with a Personal Trainer, the caliber of training that you receive is above exceptional in the area. Our instructors and trainers have impacted our members lives so much that many have become inspired to join our staff as instructors and trainers too.

We can’t forget the one piece of our AFFamily that makes our community whole – our members. We are a big community with many giving people who have shown that they truly care for each other. Our members and staff have become united through local events including food drives, SPCA fundraisers, Empowerhouse events, and Boys & Girls Club activities. We’ve become friends outside of the club and often go hiking together, meet for dinner, and stay connected through their own Facebook group. We celebrate the goods times and pull together during the bad times. We, AFF Fredericksburg, are more than just a community – we are truly an AFFamily.
