A Visit to Short Pump Will Get You “Pumped” Up

As you walk toward the doors to American Family Fitness Short Pump, they automatically open for you, as if we have been waiting for you to come to work out with us (we are 😊). When you make your way to the Welcome Desk you notice a large waterfall behind the desk that changes colors. This is a cool piece of décor for sure, but it’s also indicative of how you’ll feel after you crush your workout with us – REFRESHED. And the large staircases that wrap around each side of the waterfall don’t just look extravagant, they will lead you and your workouts to greater heights.

But we’re not all just about looks here at Short Pump – we’re about getting you the best workout experience in the area, and we offer so much beyond what you see initially!

American Family Fitness Short Pump opened in the late 2000s behind Short Pump Towne Center, relocating to a larger 95,000 square foot facility after its initial home a few blocks away in Downtown Short Pump. With a much larger space, AFF Short Pump could offer more ways to keep you moving.

Our Cardio deck is located on our lower level, but you can find more pieces at the top of the stairs and switch up your cardio view. The second level houses our weight room with a variety of equipment to meet your resistance training needs, like weight and cable machines, dumbbells, and barbells.

In addition to these two primary training areas, we’ve added not one but TWO functional training areas, one on the lower level and one on the upper level (opening soon). In the midst of traditional cardio and resistance training tools are a fresh playground of functional tools open to all members to maximize your training for function instead of just aesthetics (remember – we’re not just about looks here at Short Pump!) These areas will be home to some equipment unique to AFF Short Pump, including TANK sleds, ski ergs, assault bikes, and new rowers!

We also offer a plethora of specialized training spaces throughout our facility. AFF Short Pump is home to 4 pools (a large lap pool, 1 kids pool, 1 Aquatics teaching pool, and 1 hot tub), 1 full-size basketball court, 3 racquetball courts, an indoor track, 4 Group Fitness studios, and 2 Personal Training studios. AFF Short Pump is also 1 of 2 AFF locations that offer the ICG Connect Indoor Cycling program, a program that takes Coach by Color to the next level by adding a gamification element (in other words, you compete against your fellow riders in class!).

Yes, we offer many ways to maintain YOUR fitness and wellbeing, but we also care about our Little Members’ and the experiences that they and you have while with us. Our Kid Zone is always active and engages kids of all ages with a large Sport Court, a huge Space Maze, and an expansive outdoor area. We have also hosted several fun family events in the past, including our annual Fall Festival with trunk or treat, hayrides, games, and more! We’ve also hosted the Strong Games in late 2019 where participants competed in various strength activities such as the axle deadlift, yoke carry, stone to platform, and sled pull. And yes — we plan to host another event when it is safe to do so!

We offer a lot to our AFFamily because we love the energy given off by you, our members. We feel your excitement and passion for living a healthy lifestyle every time our doors open for you. And we get PUMPed when our AFFamily is!
